Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) announced the QS Asia University Rankings 2023 on November 8. This year, 760 institutions in Asia were included in the Rankings, with from Taiwan among them. Ming Chuan University is included in the Rankings for 6 consecutive years and is the only U.S. Accredited University in Asia.
President Lee, Hsuan-Shih states that, even under the impact of the epidemic, the number of foreign students coming to study at MCU has not decreased. In 2021-22 AY, Ming Chuan had 1111 foreign students from 55 countries, with an annual growth rate of 18.2%; and 774 overseas Chinese students (including Hong Kong and Macau students) with an annual growth rate of 11%. Meanwhile, there were 994 non-degree foreign students learning Mandarin at MCU with an annual growth rate of 12%. This continuing growth indicates that MCU is a brand that highly recognized by international students.
Ming Chuan University established the first International College in Taiwan, with all courses taught in English, in 2000. Currently, the College has developed into a professionalized scholastic institution featuring English as the medium of instruction for all courses in six bachelors’ and one master’s programs. MCU was accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) in 2010, becoming the first U.S. accredited university in Asia, and was re-accredited by MSCHE in 2016. This illustrates that the international education of MCU has gained international recognition and affirmation.
