BRIEF HISTORY
MCU has been thriving over the past 60 years and prides itself on the advancement of internationalization. Its sustaining development is rooted in numerous approaches such as building a friendly and bilingual campus and the requirement of English proficiency for all students, plus cultivation of their global views. Under the leadership of President Chuan Lee, the internationalization of the institution has been tied into the curriculum framework and institutional advancement. University development initiatives equip students with international talents, anchor MCU ‘s advancement in ever-changing global trends and showcase the organizational features in a unique and outstanding fashion. The EVP Office, a bilingual team led by Dr. Robert Yien, Executive Vice President, serves to provide the framework of the bilingual working and learning environment and facilitates navigation through the MSCHE (Middle States Commission on Higher Education) accreditation processes. One of the latest successes is to have received reaccreditation for 10 years from MSCHE. In fact, the first accreditation success in 2010 was a stepping stone to the founding of MCU’s Michigan Location, a landmark success for Taiwan higher education, which makes it possible for Ming Chuan to offer education on both sides of the globe. On the occasion of MCU’s 60th Anniversary, in March 2017, Dr. Yien was appointed as the President of the Ming Chuan University Michigan Location.
